Eiji grew up listening to her grandmother read fairytales. She knows the stories front to back. Eiji spreads her love of stories to Lord Ko, a young yokai lord who has befriended her. Eiji enjoys Lord Ko's company but she is less impressed by the appearance of Lord Sesshoshi, Lord Ko's older brother.

After her grandmother's passing, Lord Sesshoshi demands that Eiji hand over her family's collection of fairytales. While Eiji and Lord Sesshoshi sort through the scrolls, they come into contact with a cursed scroll, transporting them into a world where stories are real.

Eiji must travel through her favourite stories, yokai Lord in tow, to find her way back to her world. It seems simple enough until Eiji's feelings toward Lord Sesshoshi begin to change. Pushed together by fate, Eiji and Lord Sesshoshi find common ground and growing attraction. Hidden inside the world of stories their romance is simple but once they return to their world, where humans and yokai do not get along, Eiji fears their relationship will be doomed.

After moving through one of the fairytales, Eiji comes into possession of a legendary moon robe that can erase memories. When the time comes for Eiji and Lord Sesshoshi to leave the fairytale world, Eiji must decide if she should make Lord Sesshoshi forget her or face the realities of their relationship in a world divided.
